Urban Design hot-dip galvanisedDecember 2011 – The municipality of Beilen launched the Coulissen project in 2004: this consisted of redesigning the centre, giving it a completely new look, including new durable and vandal-proof street furniture in an “urban design”. Verzinkerij Kampen has hot-dip galvanised this furniture. The Corridor follow-up project – the refurbishment of the area between the centre and the railway station – was completed in 2011. Van den Berg Art & Ornament from Meppel developed and produced the street furniture for both projects. The artists Onno and Wessel de Ruijter designed robust street furniture with rounded forms that make a friendly and appealing impression. The street furniture is made from thick, luxurious rolled steel tubes, and finished with sustainable, untreated tropical wood with the FSC quality seal. Verzinkerij Kampen hot-dip galvanised the steel tubes, providing enduring protection for the street furniture against the elements so that the people of Beilen can enjoy it for years to come. |
